Kumbalangi is an island village in the outskirts of Kochi city in the state of Kerala, India. Situated amidst backwaters, around 12 km (7.5 mi) from the city center, Kumbalangi is a major tourist attraction and is famous for its Chinese fishing nets. Kumbalangi is the first eco-tourism village in India. Kumbalangi island is 16 km 2 in area. It is situated around 15 km from the Ernakulam Junction Railway Station and around 40 km from the Cochin International Airport

The highlight of this little village is that it’s dotted with home-stays that are famous for serving coastal delicacies, bringing an authentic experience to the traveller. The island gives the travellers a peak into the local way of life and living, something that not many places can boast of. Consequently, the self-sustaining eco- tourism destination ensures ample employment opportunities to locals In 2003 the Kerala government selected several villages as model villages. The Kumbalangi Integrated Tourism Village project is meant to transform the tiny island into a model fishing village and tourism spot.

Beautiful place!!!..thoroughly enjoyed the visit back in dec19. We actually had been there for photo shoot but loved the peaceful and serene atmosphere. We didn’t had much as in to stay but will make it in our next visit. Definitely can’t miss it. My wife and I came here in search of delicious authentic Kerala sea food and we got more than what we were expecting. We were on our motorcycle road trip in southern part of India, and due to our love for a Malayalam Film"Kumbalangi Nights" we came and stayed in Kumbalangi for 4 days. While we were staying at a different homestay, I wanted to visit the location where the Film was shot. And I came across this beautiful resort on Google. It was quite late in the afternoon when I spoke to Mr. Ramesh, the owner of the resort and we were wondering if we would get a good lunch so late in the afternoon. But to our surprise, Mr. Ramesh graciously invited us and arranged a wholesome Kerala sea food meal for both of us. Mr. Ramesh is very friendly and a polite person. He showed us around the resort and explained what all activities take place in the village during the peak season. He served us with banana leaf wrapped fishes, prawns roast in Kerala spices, a tangy red delicious fish curry, Kerala rice and two organic vegetables. The food was so refreshing and light, that we had a lot more than our usual appetite. Post our lunch we just relaxed sitting in their lawn gazing at the Kumbalangi sea and experiencing the fresh sea breeze, while Mr. Ramesh arranged for a backwaters boat ride for us. We then enjoyed a lovely serene boat ride and slowed ourselves down further. After the boat ride, a fresh hot tea and fried Kerala banana was ready for us as an evening snack. A day can't get any better than this when you are on a mission to slow down and are on a road trip. A Heavenly food in a nature's lap at God's Own Country. An amazing experience indeed!

Very humble and beautiful retreat , i will say its its a home stay because of the homely ambience and owner Mr rocky who takes care of his visitors like his guests . its sitiuated in north kumblangi , roads leading to this place is narrow but wide enough for cars and you can park your cars here . this place has some very good lake view rooms , specially the first floor room with balcony , its a homestay so food is very homely so dont expect fancy foods like a restaurant and please order food in advance . food is prepared locally with authentic taste , sea food , prawns are must try , best place for couples , friends and family get togethers also day function and food are provided . you can relax whole day and enjoy the islands view , they also have thier own chinese fishing nets . property is well maintained . So guys if your in kumblangi then this place is the best bet

It was a trip with friends and family. We were there on the Christmas eve and stay there one night. It was absolutely a refreshing trip, since it was our first trip with friends after the corona era. This is a quite place blended with nature very closely. The food, stay and everything is having a typical Kerala touch. The lunch we had was pre-ordered from the menu, where you can enjoy some tasty fresh fish recipes. They will prepare the food upon your request. Coming to the location, just follow the google maps and you will correctly reach the destination. The place is surrounded by water on all the sides, and is like an island. The resort is managed by the family and they are maintaining the place beautifully utilizing the beauty of the nature. They will provide a boat ride for additional cost, in the evening which is a soothing experience. You will travel towards the west side through the lake and can have a good view of the sunset. The time we were visiting, they were having two room types, one was on the ground floor (the windows were very closer to the lake). The other one (only one unit) is on first floor (single unit on the top of a tower like building), where you will get a nice view of the lake. They have conference halls also, which are good for team recreation and gettogethers. The staffs were so cooperative and the rates too were reasonable. You can also see lots of Chinese fishing nets (Cheena vala) close to the resort property. Thank you for the good hospitality and we are happy with the way we enjoyed their. The food we choose was all typical, tasty Kerala cuisines. If you have watched the malayalam movie "Kumbalangi Nights", the movie has some portions shot in this resort. The anti-hero's house (Fahad Fazil's role as Shammi) in the movie is located very near to the resort (hardly 10 minutes walk). You can visit there as well.
